Wow. What a most necessary, fulfilling, relaxing and rejuvenating day.
I forget how peaceful it is to wake up naturally, with no alarm. It was heaven.
I didn't get home until after 1am last night (a big night out on the town for this lil grandma!!). We went to celebrate the 3 year anniversary of The Big Quiet. It started off as a meditation group of friends in someones apartment, as has since grown to a 300 person event with live music, performances, and group building conversations. It was wonderful. We ate super yummy food, I think a cauliflower pesto dish, and sipped on Kombucha. Our whole group all attended, and it was nice to see everyone in a more relaxed environment outside of filming.
We were prompted to sit down, and led through a few humming and toning exercise to get everyone tuned into the same frequency. It was so powerful feeling the vibration of the room humming in unison. I loved every moment of it. Post humming, we went straight into a guided meditation with lots of sound instruments. Rain sticks and some kind of box instrument.
After a few talent show acts, and a little dancing, we swung by a mexican restaurant to refuel ourselves with lots of guac.
This morning, 9:30 rolled around, and we lazily laid in bed, searching for some places to eat at later in the city.
We decided on Citizens of Chelsea for breakfast - a super cute, Aussie born restaurant with plants hanging from everywhere and the most insane smashed avocado toast I have ever eaten in my life. Honestly it was so good, I even got 2 matches. Also, it was a 2 matcha kind of morning.
We were sat at the bar, and its funny noticing the difference being in the world after being immersed in so much meditation practice and all of this deep conversation about human connection. It felt like Caley and I were just radiating this bright light, and people were so drawn to it. We had conversations with everyone around us, and we even got some delicious mimosas on the house!
After taking our time eating brunch, we walked a few miles to Higher Dose, an infrared sauna. Oh my freaking goodness. That was INTENSE. The place was super beautiful, and they put Caley and I in a little pod together. There are different colored lights to correlate with different healing energies in the body, and we chose green, to heal and align the heart chakra.
I have never done an infrared sauna before, and don't spend much time in any saunas really. It was a whole body sweat, like even my stomach and legs were all sweaty!! But in the best, yummiest way possible. We've been sitting indoors with heaters blasting basically all day every day, and it felt so good to generate some moisture for my skin.
Caley and I both crumbled to the floor after the hour was up. I felt light headed and a little nauseous, but I suppose that's all the junk leaving my body. After a refreshing shower, we took the streets of Manhattan.
We popped into a few shops and found some wonderful goods, until we got hungry again. So we walked to Nix. Another HIGHLY RECOMMENDED recommendation. Oh my gosh!! Every bite was so mouthwateringly delicious. The textures, the flavors, so delicate and fresh. It was a fully vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurant, and just got a Michelin star!
We meditated on the subway ride home, and now have to do a little reading to prepare for our lectures tomorrow. The alarm is set for 5:45!
Sending you all ALL the love.
